Mandel Sher, M.D.

Dr. Sher

Dr. Sher received his M.D. from Northwestern University School of Medicine, in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his internship and residency at Duke University Medical Center and Children's Hospital Boston at Harvard University, where Dr. Sher also served as the Chief Resident. Dr. Sher fulfilled his specialty training in Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology, as well as Pediatric Rheumatology, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Sher's peers recognize him as an expert in the field of asthma, allergy, and immunology. He is certified by the American Boards of Pediatrics, Allergy and Immunology, as well as, Pediatric Rheumatology. As a former Co-Director of the Training Program at the University of South Florida at All Children's Hospital, Dr. Sher teaches physicians who are specializing in asthma, allergy, and immunology. Dr. Sher's credentials as a scientist, teacher, and physician earned him the high distinction of Clinical Professor at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine. His peers have also selected him for "The Best Doctors in America," "The Best Doctors in the Southeast," and "Tampa Bay's Top Doctors".

Dr. Sher dedicates himself to instructing patients, physicians and the public on the signs and symptoms of asthmatic and allergic problems, their management, and treatment benefits for overall health and quality of life. He is a frequent speaker at educational programs for physicians and appears on public information television and radio spots. Dr. Sher is a founding member of the Tampa Bay chapter of the patient advocacy network, Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America.

Dr. Sher is the recipient of many honors from the Tampa Bay community that he has proudly served since 1984. He is particularly proud of the distinctions bestowed on him by patients and families.

Monroe James King, D.O.

Dr. Sher Dr. King attended Wayne State University in Michigan, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, and earned his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon completing his internship at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital and a residency in Pediatrics at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Michigan, he entered private practice and served as chairman of the Pediatric Department at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton, Michigan.

In 1977 the U.S. Navy recruited Dr. King to active duty. During his 28 years of service, Dr. King's assignments included:

  • Consulting Allergist - Department of Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Maryland
  • Head of the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia
  • Allergist at the Naval Medical Clinic (US Naval Academy) Annapolis, Maryland
  • Task Force Surgeon for both the Joint Task Force Middle East during the Persian Gulf Tanker War in 1988 and the U.S. Amphibious Task Force during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
After retiring from the U.S. Navy as a Captain, Medical Corps, USN on October 1, 1995, Dr. King joined SHER ALLERGY SPECIALISTS. Dr. King is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics. He is Director for Geriatric Research in the Allergy and Immunology Division at the University of South Florida Medical School, active in asthma surveillance studies in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties, and a consultant to the indoor air quality industry. Dr. King brings vast and varied expertise and experience in adult and childhood allergy and asthma to SAS.

Our administrative team is often our patients' first point of contact by telephone or during an office visit. They are friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable, intent on making each patient's beginning and ending encounters pleasant and efficient.
